Last week I had the opportunity to sit down with a local family and talk about money. Our conversation was featured on Minneapolis/St. Paul NBC affiliate.

As the article notes, the Ali family wasn’t talking to me because they were having money problems. We talked because, as parents, Mateen and Farhana really want their children to learn healthy money habits while they’re young. I asked the family about the importance of savings, distinguishing between needs and wants, and what we learn when we share. As you’ll see in the video, the kids have some wonderful answers!

The Ali family is a great example of a family that has benefitted from engaging openly in important money conversations. They’ve discussed their values and goals, and as I think you’ll see, they’ve learned a lot and had fun! I congratulate them as a wonderful example for all of us.
