Facebook Founder Launches Social Network to Inspire Philanthropy

I just read an interesting article in The New York Times, A Facebook Founder Begins a Social Network Focused on Charities, about a new social networking site that aims to “connect individuals and organizations (nonprofits) working to change the world.” It’s called Jumo and I’m both intrigued and hopeful.

I’m intrigued because Jumo’s objectives are really straightforward: “find issues and projects you care about while following the latest news and updates.” I’m hopeful because they are also crystal clear about how you can make a difference: “support their work (the nonprofits you are passionate about) with time, money and skills.” It’s pretty straight forward and could be an easy way to introduce the world of sharing (time and money) to a young person.

What do you think?
